'Fountain' Definitely A Go!
July 25, 2002: Luckily, the Australian newspapers were right (see our last update) and Darren's scifi film, The Fountain is definitly going into production.
The much hyped Fountain film had the much confused Aronofsky fans, scifi geeks, and movie buffs everywhere saying, "So, is it gonna happen or not?" It seemed every couple days we had a contradicting story about the project status, but luckily trade paper Variety now is reporting that the film has been officially greenlit. The report says that the film will begin production late October (delayed from September) and will film in both Queensland and Sydney Australia.
'Victoria' from Australia reported in to tell us that the Gold Coast sent Brad Pitt letters, attempting to convince him to film in Gold Coast as opposed to Syndey. (Pitt was the reason why production shifted to Sydney.) Both Gold Coast and Syndey should be happy however, that the film will shoot in both locations. (See above paragraph)
(Thanks to 'Victoria' and 'Andy')
In her report from Australia, 'Victoria' also sent us a link to a Sydney Morning Herald article about independant film in Australia, and the article mentions Darren Aronofsky's Pi. Click here to read the article.
(Again thanks to 'Victoria')
