Aronofsky Talks 'Flicker', 'Batman', 'Lone Wolf and Cub' & More!

April 29, 2003: Apologies for the lack of Aronofsky-related news of late, but it seems that this devious director has been keeping a lid on these top secret film projects. Although, it seems Darren did speak recently at the UC Berkeley campus, and let a few minor film details slip. As someone living in Northern California, I would have loved to attend the discussion. Sadly, nobody let me know. Luckily the news managed to find its way here... (via AICN)

FLICKER.
It looks like Darren's next film will be an adaption of Theodore Roszak's sci-fi conspiracy novel Flicker, to be penned by Fight Club scribe, Jim Uhls.

BATMAN: YEAR ONE.
Apparently Darren stated that his Batman script co-written by Frank Miller was "a faithful adaptation" of Miller's classic Batman: Year One comic, and that he was unaware of the screenplay's fate. However, Bat-fans and Aronofsky-philes have long been aware that Warner Bros. unofficially passed on the Aronofsky/Miller script (see last update) and a new Batman film is being developed to be written by David Goyer (Blade) and to be directed by Memento helmer Christopher Nolan.

LONE WOLF AND CUB.
A while back (in the pre Aronofsky.Net days), Darren worked with Frank Miller on attempting to adapt Miller's futuristic samurai graphic novel Ronin. The film never managed to get out of development hell, but according to Darren's recent lecture, they are in the process of negotiating the rights for another samurai comic book epic: Lone Wolf and Cub. Hopefully, we will get more news on this new possible film as development continues!

THE FOUNTAIN.
Aronofsky also said that The Fountain may still be "on the slate" for sometime in the not so distant future and Darren even revealed that a graphic novel was being worked on, in correlation with the film.
Not the first time Darren has worked on a comic book for a movie tie-in: Pi: Book of Ants anyone?

(Don't click anywhere, there's no Fountain related merchandise to buy...yet!)

(A big thanks to 'Robbie', 'Ciaran', 'Rosalyn', and 'Thomas')
