Fountain Filming & Set Report! Plus Discarded Batman Script Review!

April 5, 2005: It's been a while without an update. Hopefully we will be back and in action as The Fountain nears release. We get our first peak at what's been happening from Moriarty over at Aint It Cool News, who has had the chance to visit the set of...

THE FOUNTAIN.
Aronofsky's scifi film, which was once to star Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett is currently filming in Montreal. Pitt's part has been filled by Hugh Jackman while Blanchett has been replaced by Aronofsky's actress girl-friend Rachel Weisz. Be sure to check out AICN's great set report. Meanwhile, JoBlo has the first two pictures online. Also, Both links are certainly worth visiting! Also, SuicideGirls.Com has an excellent interview with Aronofsky up about The Fountain. Click all of the links to read the full articles and we should get the interview in our interview section sometime soon.

In some other news, I am sure most of you guys remember back when Aronofsky was singed up to direct...

BATMAN: YEAR ONE.
Most Aronofsky-philes know well about the filmmaker's brief run with the Dark Knight. Aronofsky and comicbook legend Frank Miller wrote a script based on Miller's popular Batman: Year One comicbook. WB decided to go in a different direction and turned helming the next Bat-flick over to Memento writer/director Chris Nolan, who is currently putting finishing touches on his Batman Begins for a release this summer. However, website DC-On-Film recently wrote a review of the Aronofsky/Miller script. The film sounds very interesting and different although be warned because the review is pretty negative. It sounds like a pretty adult and intense movie (which was always Aronofsky's intentions), and may have just not been this reviewer's cup-of-tea. Click the link above to read the review, and if anybody out there has access to this screenplay we'd love to see it!

Unfortunatly, Batman: Year One is not Darren's last "we-thought-he'd-make-it-but-he-had-to-pass" comicbook adaptation. Last update we told you that he was attached to adapt Alan Moore's classic graphic novel...

WATCHMEN.
However, because of his commitment to The Fountain, Aronofsky has had to pass. But hey, at least The Fountain will actually make it to theaters!

Director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) is now set to film Watchmen.
