Aronofsky Now On Lone Wolf! What's His Next Film?

May 23, 2003: If you check the news archives, you'll see that Darren has been connected with a number of projects. Here's an update on a few of them...

LONE WOLF AND CUB.
At Darren's UC Berkeley lecture, he stated that he was attempting to negotiate the rights to the incredible samurai graphic novel Lone Wolf and Cub. According to Variety, Darren is now on board of the project. Aronofsky will "contemporize" the tale with producing partner Eric Watson for Paramount and the Mutual Film Company.

FLICKER.
From what I have been able to make out, it seems that Darren is still on board to helm an adaptation of Theodore Roszak's sci-fi conspiracy novel Flicker as his next film. I haven't yet read the novel, although I've been told that it's excellent. I really hope that this film doesn't go the way of Batman: Year One or The Fountain.

CAT'S CRADDLE.
As you were told last update, rumors were going around that Darren Aronofsky was in negotiations to helm an adaptation of the Kurt Vonnegut novel, with a script to be written by Donnie Darko writer/director Richard Kelly. Word is that the talks began at the Cannes Film Festival. Also, Harry over at AICN adds on to the story that Leondardo DiCaprio (whose company is producing the film) might possibly act in the film as well. For now, we'll have to wait and see if Darren signs on. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
