Hugh Jackman is doing interviews for X-Men 3 and he's been asked about upcoming movies and The Fountain of course is mentioned. Here are links - apparently they are doing another film festival:

While in NYC doing his roundtable interviews, Jackman was kind enough to fill in Latino Review on some of his upcoming releases like Darren Aronosky's "The Fountain" and Woody Allen's "Scoop."
Also "The Fountain" in which follows a man's thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. His epic journey begins in 16th century Spain, where conquistador Tomas Creo (Hugh Jackman) commences his search for the Tree of Life, the legendary entity believed to grant eternal life to those who drink of its sap.
NOW why the long delay on this film? Jackman says, "Well it's got to do with…Basically its like nothing you've ever seen before this movie is…I'm so proud to be in that movie that when I watched it I go 'I'm so glad I'm in it' because Aronofsky (Darren) I think is like a Kubrick (Stanley) but from a marketing point of view you've got to be very careful with how you position this. So they always had a plan, starting kind with film festivals the right film festival to build momentum before they release it. The movie has been ready for a few months I think, but they just had to wait for the right film festival, which I can't announce. It is a special movie."

He told us that The Fountain was not going to have an immediate wide release. The filmmakers would prefer to do the film festival circuit first. Hugh could not tell us what film festival but he confirmed that they have already chosen one.
